LONDON, UK – April 17, 2025
With “1.33 million households currently on local authority housing registers, also known as ‘waiting lists'” (GOV.UK, March 2024), the UK is facing an unprecedented shortage of social housing that is only worsening. So, how can landlords and the Private Rental Sector (PRS) help?
Recognising this as an ever-growing problem and a gap for landlords to support, the National Landlord Investment Show (NLIS) is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new Social Housing Panel, set to debut at its upcoming London show on 9th July 2025 at Old Billingsgate, London.
The panel is themed “Social Housing: How Can Landlords Bridge the Gap?” and seeks to explore the critical role private landlords can play in supporting the UK’s social housing system and bringing much-needed attention to the matter within the Private Rental Sector (PRS) industry. The extended 90-minute panel will serve as a groundbreaking forum, bringing together key stakeholders from the housing sector as experts, including local authority representatives, housing associations, estate agents, legal experts, landlord bodies, and experienced landlords.
“There’s a real demand from both sides, private and social housing, to collaborate. But for this to succeed, we need to bring more awareness, education and support. This debut panel is about creating that space to do that, and we’re proud to launch this at our upcoming London show in July 2025” said Tracey Hanbury, Director and Co-Founder of the National Landlord Investment Show.
Panel Highlights Include:
- The Role of the Private Rental Sector (PRS) in the Social Housing Crisis with a focus on local authority leasing schemes, ethical letting, affordability challenges, and landlord incentive programmes.
- Successful Local Authority–Landlord Partnership: A real-life case study showcasing effective collaboration to house vulnerable tenants.
- Breaking the Barriers: Regulation, Risk & Support, including how to make partnerships work in practice with a focus on EPC ratings, tenant selection, compliance, and guaranteed rent schemes.
- Audience Q&A: A live, interactive discussion where attendees can ask questions directly to panel experts.
This extended panel will take place between 1pm-2:30pm on the main auditorium stage and is part of a full-day exhibition event featuring over 100+ exhibitors and 50+ expert-led seminars, plus the opportunity to network and meet with thousands of landlords, investors, and property professionals.
